A batch is not quite the same thing as a version. The word “version” implies nothing about whether the changes are additions, modifications, or deletions; and the changes to this site are always just additions.

A batch is also not quite the same thing as an issue (e.g., of a magazine). An issue can usually stand on its own, but a batch only adds to what has gone before, and makes no sense in isolation.

Another reason I like the word “batch” is that it indicates that changes to the site are not made one at a time, but instead are accumulated and released periodically … in a batch.
