August

I honestly don't know where to begin, this time.

I could just point you to the details and let you go.

Or I could pick out the numerous essays I consider especially good. For some time I've been meaning to write about the prisoner's dilemma and evolutionarily stable strategies, and now I finally have, even to the point of including a background article on game theory. I also finished my long-overdue essay on combinatorial game theory and wrote one other technical one, a detailed explanation of cookies. There are a couple of other essays I've been meaning to write for some time, namely, Patterns of Artistic Output (plus a subessay) and Reaction Against Button-Pushing; those turned out quite well. I'm also pleased with how I presented my views on religion.

Or I could discuss why the essays are longer than usual. For one thing, there were a lot of mathematical and technical essays. Those not only tend to run long, but also, I think, get me used to writing at length. For another, I was less aggressive than, perhaps, I should have been about factoring the content into subessays.
