July

Recently, while on a trip to the East Coast, I had two neat ideas about numbers, one, on the way out, about primes, the other, on the way back, about the next block in the number maze. When I got back, I thought, I'd write them down as essays … you know, just get up the next morning and hammer them out. Ha ha. Really, of course, it took me a while to start working on them, and then I made the fatal mistake of continuing to think about and elaborate on the ideas. Now, a month later, I have six essays, all but one of them long and very dense. One of them, on divisibility, I'd already meant to write, but the rest are brand new.

That's not an ideal result, actually. There are lots of interesting little numerical and mathematical things that I have notes on. Given infinite time I'd love to write them all down, but in reality I ought to try and capture the glue first. On the other hand, if I have a new thought, and am excited enough to write about it, well, why not?

I also added a tiny new feature to the site, which is that the essays in the threads are now linked backward as well as forward. I don't like the way the backward links look, but I figure it's more important to be able to tell when you've jumped into the middle of something.

Actually, just for fun, I'm also going to enable backlinks from the history pages.
